Stacey Dash says if you boycott Oscars, get rid of Black History Month

Stacey Dash, the actress best known for her role in the movie “Clueless” has set Twitter afire once again.

Appearing on Fox News’ Fox & Friends with host Steve Doocy, Dash — a Fox contributor — weighed in on black celebrities in Hollywood like Jada Pinkett Smith calling for a boycott of the Oscars due to the lack of African-American actors nominated for awards

Dash, who was celebrating her birthday, says we need to decide on segregation or integration and if we don’t want to be segregated then we should get rid of things like Black Entertainment Television  or Black History Month (unless there is also a White History Month.)

Here’s how it went down:

And here’s Twitter going in on her:

The growing Oscar boycott has been drawing its share of famous supporters and critics.

Whoopi Goldberg and Aunt Viv (actress Janet Hubert who played Will Smith’s aunt on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air) have been critics of those calling for a boycott. While Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith have said they will not attend the ceremony this year.

Wondering if Stacey Dash plans to attend?

She wasn’t nominated for anything, but as she noted in her interview, that has nothing to do with race.

The President of the Oscars is a Black Woman, the host is Black Man and several blacks have won Oscars.  Do you realize that blacks are only 13% of the overall population of America?

I am rather conservative, but I see no need in a White History Month because it has always been that.  I am, nevertheless, glad Dash speaks her mind and initiates dialog.

Chris Rock calls the Oscars The White BET, which is dead right... on both counts. Love Chris Rock sometimes.

Way to go Stacey. You are correct. How many whites or Asians are allowed to be in Miss Black America?? How many excellent white, Asian, Hispanics attend Morris Brown in Atl?

The Oscars recognize excellence and narrow down the nominees to a select few.  If you want to be nominated then be the best you can be amongst all actors, directors, producers or musicians.

Spike Lee doesn't get nominated because he doesn't produce great movies.

The planned boycott of the Oscars is in response to the lack of recognition of people of color (all colors) among their peers. That's it.This is not an issue of indecision related to segregation or integration or any other factor intentionally brought out by television personalities to elicit a reaction and to discredit the offense. The issue is simply failing to recognize the contributions of all people to American culture. In this instance the gripe relates to Hollywood but it is this same rationale that birthed Black History month, Black Entertainment Television, Women's History month, Women's Entertainment Television (WeTV), Hispanic Heritage month, LGBTQ  History month, the LOGO network, etc. Quite frankly, I think the outdated process for selecting those actors and movies that are considered "worthy" of such nomination needs to be revisited.  The nominations themselves are just the end result of "the process" and its players.

So does her lack of success as an actress mean that her opinion isn't valid? The lady is right.

If society truly wants us all to be equal, then we have to act equal and treat each other as equals.

That men's that you can't demand to be allowed in "Miss America", as you rightly should, and then have a "Miss Black America" as well. History Month is yet another example. By having events deemed as "Black" or "African", you purposely say to the world that you want to be segregated and separate from non "Black" events, and also be included in the non black events.

So, what would you call that? Sounds like one-sided segregation to me.

Who cares what this has been actress has to say. Haven't seen her in any movies, sit-coms or anything relevant. Shut shut up and go back to the white man's plantation better known as Fox News.

@tinala your ignorance and hypocrisy towards racism is why she's irritated by her own race.

This moron is only black when it suits her. She hasn't done anything relevant in years. The rest of the time she plays white.

@Lougee how does one "play white"? are you saying she has to act a certain way to be considered black?

This sista has the look that dark skinned brothers go crazy over.

They love light skinned sistas with pretty, soft hair that smells good.

The darker skinned brothers don't want a sista with nappy hair that has an odor.

The dark skinned sistas are trying to look like the white girls and wear weaves cause the brothers want white girls.

Seems to me,the only people hating on black people are their own kind.

This is funny as.......!

Go Stacy !

Lol !
