Tia Becca of ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’ rankles web with family photos

Fans of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta were treated to a new cast member last week during the first episode of Season 5.

Tiarra “Tia” Becca is the mother of a son with cast member Scrapp DeLeon. Scrapp is dating cast member Tommie. Confused? Me too.

Anyway, Becca is wasting no time in making her mark. Just as she made her debut on the show, she offered up some family photos of her and her four children on various social media accounts.

The photo received 20K likes and a few questions about exactly what Becca was trying to achieve by wearing lingerie in a family photo with her children.

Another image — available on her personal website — prompted questions about the cultural significance given the nod to the Black Panthers (or Beyoncé?) The photo shows the family of five in the same gear with raised fists.

Both pix made the rounds on Facebook and Instagram and while many applauded the images as a show of strength, others questioned the wisdom of the kids posing with mom in her unmentionables. Her critics suggested she put on some clothes and try again.

Becca seemed to not give a hip-hop about what folks are saying responding to some on Twitter as follows:

To be fair, Becca did have some more “traditional” family photos to offer.

Anyone who wants to know more about Becca and maybe get some insight into why she opted to shoot these particular family photos doesn’t have to wait long.

She is releasing a memoir on April 22. “Love and War: A Story of Tragedy and Triumph” promises to tell readers about Becca’s tumultuous upbringing on the “rough streets of Dayton, Ohio.”

Why try to sex up this message? Plus on clothes with them and let the focus be the message not how good you look in lingerie.

So she is beautiful but I don't understand the kids dressed and she in a bikini pose? Am I missing a reference here? Why not just her then or wear the same outfit as her kids?

Obviously there's no father figure in these kids lives, if there is he's a punk for allowing this.

Haha !!! Hanging and burning our ppl was just a thing ??? Lol. Selling or families off like cattle. Raping our women ....lol.. But this is shameful cuz we still stand in Black unity in spite of ur bs ???? Lol. GO SIT DOWN SOMEWHERE. It's a beautiful artistic statement of the woman's Devine power to overcome all insects of society.

Right? My ancestors were sold as slaves too. The women were raped & left to die in burning homes. It's so sad that they're forgotten.

Remember it was your people that sold you off in slavery.

Not every slave was sold by another African. In every instance of slavery throughout time there has been a small percentage that was enslaved by their own, I.e.. Romans, Europeans, Asians, etc. However, a vast majority were enslaved by those other than themselves. According to this "new found historical enlightenment" we were workers looking for a better life. So, yeah....I guess we were ALL sold by other Africans to Africans, whom had ships and plantations just waiting for that free labor force.

Actually, any African kings were slaughtered trying to protect their ppl from being abducted by slavers. So, that's an outright lie made up to make murderers feel good about themselves.

Wonder if some folks who don't like this, like the 'controversial' Beyonce video. While she didnt pose with Blu Ivy, the message in this photo and Beyonce's video seem the same to me. ALSO, if we saw a woman in African garb which shows a lot of skin, would THAT be criticized? I wonder about these things....questions....questions.... On the other hand, dearest white people: just because black people are pro black with fists in the air, proud of where they came from, and all of the HELL that their ancestors went through to make it possible for them to have opportunities, doesn't mean doesn't mean black people are anti white. Please stop seeing it as a threat and taking it personally....because in actuality, we're not even THINKING about you.

Culture doesn't need to be aggressive. Better way to send a message. You're among the same generation that didn't have any control over their past. Don't hate and separate.

Lorri Crapps Keener

That's the problem now, sending is talking about the way she's dressed and not the fact that this photo shows that she is teaching her children hate and racism. But I guess that's OK? As long as she's not showing her body while doing it.

Beautiful body ...but I'd never pose like that with my children

Can we just ignore what people post on instagram. Feel like we pay so much attention to something thats so trivial and has no impact.
