Shaquille O’Neal buys $1.15 million estate in metro Atlanta

Shaquille O’Neal, former player for the Los Angeles Lakers, recently purchased another hefty piece of real estate in the metro area.

O’Neal, an analyst for TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” just dropped $1.15 million on an estate in McDonough, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The property features two homes, a three-stall barn with an attached workshop and a swimming pool on more than 14 acres. There is also a 12-seat theatre, game room and gym on the basement level.

The main house was built in 2008 and the property came on the market two years ago for $1.275 million. Check out images of the estate here.

O’Neal is no stranger to the metro area.

He has been a part-time Atlantan for 15 years since purchasing a condo in Buckhead. He has also owned a six-acre farm in Gwinnett County and  in a 2013 interview with the AJC’s Jennifer Brett, he jokingly referred to himself as “the Lord of Lawrenceville.”

Shaq remains a loyal customer and friend of Bruce Teilhaber, owner of Friedman’s Shoes the metro area landmark which caters to men with large feet — up to size 22.

So is it racism that he won't live in a black community?

Robert Turner

The same reason Ice Cube moved to a white neighborhood. He moved back to the black community and was robbed like 3 times and had to move.

I live in a upscale black neighborhood in Fayetteville with a HOA and I'm starting to see bars on the doors! Talk about decreasing the value in our homes!

See he could had taken some of his money and bought 2 to 4 blocks of abandon and run down hoses in the black community and built the same house for less money. Why didn't he improve the black community?

Why does it take O'Neil to help the Black Community, just because you buy 4 lots and build a house, that's just an ignorant statement.Starts with being an Active Member of Your City's Council.Atlanta is filled with hard working people ,I go Atlanta and Never hear anyone I'm around Mentioning Race,They are all about making Money not asking for Help.Do you Really think Shaq is Going to save your Neighborhood...be for real. This is just a House to be able to Commute to Commentate,be in the Area of Atlanta for Events,Atlanta Miami New York L.A. main Airport Hubs ,when you can grab something up like this if you have the means it's a No Brainerd,Check to see the Previous Owner, might be a connection ,house has to be built for his heighth.ijs

McDonough is metro Atlanta. Metro Atlanta consists of Fulton, Dekalb, Gwinnett, Cobb, Clayton, Douglas, Fayette and Henry. If you have to have a emissions test for your car tag you are in metro Atlanta.
