Georgia Southern professor threatened for reporting antisemitic posts of the man behind the Trump/CNN wrestling meme

The journalist and Georgia Southern University professor who uncovered antisemitic and racist memes posted by the individual who created the GIF of Donald Trump wrestling with CNN, has said he is receiving death threats.

Jared Yates Sexton, journalist, author and assistant professor of creative writing at Georgia Southern, shared in a series of tweets some of the threatening messages that came his way after he revealed the social media history of the unnamed man who created the initial meme.

The Reddit user posted a GIF that quickly went viral and was retweeted in a revised form by Trump:

On Sunday, Sexton researched and tweeted images of other memes created by the user, “HanA**holeSolo,” (asterisks inserted).

On Tuesday, the user issued a lengthy apology on Reddit (since removed by moderators of /The_Donald subreddit), for both the initial meme and his other posts on social media with racist and antisemitic content. He also deleted all of his posts.

The man then confirmed his identity to CNN’s kFile but asked not to be named publicly out of “fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family,” reports CNN.

Sexton, however, has been on the receiving end of exactly this sort of threat since first uncovering the man’s antisemitic posts like the following:

Sexton notes in a later Tweet that either he did more research than Trump’s team on who was behind the Trump/CNN wrestling meme or Trump’s team simply didn’t care who was the source.  It didn’t take long for threats directed at Sexton to start flowing in :

Sexton continued getting threatening memes and messages well into Tuesday evening and it isn’t the first time he has been on the receiving end of threats from internet trolls.

“There’s something ugly growing in the body of America. This intimidation is meant to stall efforts to expose that,” Sexton tweeted before urging everyone to “Be on the right side of history.”

I've profited 104000 dollars in last twelve months by freelancing from home and I manage to earn that much by working part-time for few h daily. I was following a money making opportunity I came across from company that i found online and I am happy that I was able to earn so much extra income. It's very user-friendly and I am just so thankful  that i learned about it.

Unlike Griffin's decapitation picture, the Trump/CNN video was funny. Griffin deserved scorn for her failed attempt at humor, nothing more.  The problem with the Trump/CNN video was rather than CNN seeing itself in the mirror and laughed it off as "tacky, yet clever", it went on a vendetta to threaten to destroy the creator.

Many felt the same way about our previous POTUS but dared not make such videos for fear of being branded racist, fascist, whatever.  CNN and liberal Democrats, y'all have lost your senses of humor.

Were you asleep the past 8 years? Nobody made videos out of fear of being branded racist LOL.

President Obama and his wife and children faced a constant onslaught of offensive racists "jokes" for eight years and responded only with dignity and grace. Never would he have retweeted an implied threat at the news media. That is only done by the thin skinned narcissist currently in office.

And the stupid video is not remotely funny. For some reason conservatives are never very good at funny.

You can NOT hide under your fake names. Leave the professor alone. He did us a favor by exposing the racist individual.

Trump is the problem and we have never in the history of the United States every to have a "President" to act the way that this man is acting and it is disgraceful.

There's NOTHING wrong with showing people the race/ethnicity of the 'big shots' of the media (or the banks or "Hollyweird").  The proof is in the pudding.

Sinclair Lewis said that fascism will come America cloaked in a flag and holding a cross. Anyone who saw the televised D.C.rally this weekend sponsored by 1st Baptist Church of Dallas where Trump was the speaker-in-chief would say that day has arrived.

@vahighlander He did not say that. Researchers have read every page of "It  Can't Happen Here," and that sentence is not there. It has been debunked over and over. I have read the entire Lewis canon myself. Have you?

trumplorable...... A member of a cult  lead by donald trump. Worshipers allow no facts to get in the way of their opinions. They are most likely to be a white guy with low morals and a misguided value system.

Fascism progresses in gaining control beginning with blocking access to food and clean water for the weakest.  Healthcare is next - with the poor, unwanted children, the elderly, the Jew-Democrat, etc. being placed on the 'Do Not Treat' list.  Political enemies are then identified - currently the request for each state's list of registered Democrats - and incarcerated.  Because incarceration is expensive and - with adequate numbers deactivated - Zyklon B can be instituted.  Rallies are held to denounce the free press and gangs of hooligans are assembled behind the speaker to shout and smirk implying popularity and power.  Elected Congressional personal are repeatedly transported in group buses, so that they can be easily rounded up and added to the incarceration group as necessary.  It has been done many times and is now proceeding in the United States.

Maybe he would be more credible if he presented solid evidence of said threats  The CNN, a powerful corporation with millions of resources at its disposal has issued real specific threats against the creator of the gif and those have been released for all to read.  CNN a powerful news organization threatening a private citizen for a satirical gif that perfectly captures the meaning of fake. Three CNN "journalists" have been forced to resign because of their mendacity. Now that is the real news here.

He has released solid evidence of the threats. Only someone who has drunk much too much of Donald Trump's Kool Aid would think that the real issue here is CNN?
